The Falk Book
Sarah Bernhardt faced H. Walter Barnett’s camera—so did most of the stage stars of late nineteenth century Australia. Barnett’s elegant theatrical portraits, taken at the Falk Studios in Sydney in the 1890s, are now coming together for a new audience.

Unique opportunity to purchase a limited edition book and support the ongoing work of Theatre Heritage Australia

In 2019, Theatre Heritage Australia undertook a major digitisation project of The Falk Album. In 2020 we are producing a limited edition book to highlight this extraordinary collection.

The Falk Studios: the theatrical portrait photography of H. Walter Barnett

This handsome new book, published by Theatre Heritage Australia, will feature Barnett’s finest photographic work along with insightful essays by three respected writers—Barnett authority Roger Neill; former Assistant Director of the NGV and Senior Curator of Photography Dr Isobel Crombie; and writer and curator Simon Plant.

Book details: 104pp soft bound B5 book with over 100 illustrations, three major essays and biographical notes.
