13th THA Annual General Meeting

Notice is hereby given that the 13th Annual General Meeting of Theatre Heritage Australia Inc. will be held on Saturday 14 May 2022 at the Melbourne Athenaeum Library, Level 1, 188 Collins Street, Melbourne VIC. The AGM will also be streamed via Zoom.

3.30 pm – Special Guest speaker – Simon Plant, Author

Special Guest speaker – Simon Plant, author

Simon PlantOur guest speaker will be Melbourne writer Simon Plant who is writing a book about George Coppin’s travels in the United States in 1864-65.

His address, titled ‘Going through a difficult stage’, will serve as both an introduction to this little known Victorian-era episode and a progress report on his manuscript.

Simon’s book ‘Entertaining Mr Coppin: An Australian Showman in Civil War America’ is due for completion in 2023 with a view to it being published by Theatre Heritage Australia.

Simon, who holds a Masters degree in Australian History, was a reporter and editor at News Limited for 30 years where he specialised in arts and entertainment. He has also co-curated three exhibitions including ‘Making a Song and Dance: The Quest for an Australian Musical’ (2004).

This is a free event – all THA members & their guests are welcome.

What is ZOOM?

ZOOM is a web-based video conferencing tool that allows users to meet online, with or without video.

How do I join a meeting?

You can join a meeting by clicking the meeting link or going to join.zoom.us and entering in the meeting ID provided by the meeting organiser.

Alternatively, you can join the meeting via audio only by simply dialling in on your phone, using the phone number provided by the meeting organiser.

Do I need an account to use ZOOM?

A ZOOM account is not required if you are simply joining a ZOOM meeting as a participant. However you will need to download the free ZOOM software to join a meeting. A link to the software will be provided in the meeting invitation.

If joining the meeting by phone, you do not need to download the software.

Do I need a webcam to join on ZOOM?

While you are not required to have a webcam to join a ZOOM meeting, you will not be able to transmit video of yourself. You will continue to be able to listen and speak during the meeting, share your screen, and view the webcam video of other participants.
